It almost does the opposite of what anime did and gives fans the ending they wanted. The manga came after the anime, mostly the same, minor details are different up to about chapter mid 40's. Then it starts to change, giving a different, many (me included) say better ending. You might as well start at chapter 1. Everyone is saying that the manga has a better ending.
